Our coaches are dedicated to the development of our swimmers ensuring that they are given support and guidance appropriate to the stage of their development. ​ We understand that every swimmer is different, on their own path to reaching their full potential. We make sure that we don't box swimmers in to set 'rules' where they must do certain things at specific ages, instead we make sure that the opportunities we give swimmers are appropriate to the stage of their development. ​ We value the perfromance attitude of swimmers above their natural ability and spaces in our squads are earn through hard work, commitment and professionalism (but we still have lots of fun). The club has given me so many amazing opportunities over the years and now as one of the senior swimmers I can see how important it is to so many young swimmers and how it helps them grow in to great people." ​ - Jack Blair Coaching Our coaches follow a philosophy outlined by our Head Coach which is built on the premise that coaching is a fine balance between science and art. ​ They are dedicated to their profession, always looking to further their knowledge and experience in the pursuit of perfection so you can be sure that the programme they are delivering is of the absolute highest standard designed with one purpose in mind, making EVERY swimmer at Chesterfield Swimming Club the absolute best swimmer they can be. ​ Head Coach ​ Our Head Coach Mark Tanner studied Applied Sports Science at Loughborough University, which has been ranked as the number 1 university in the world for sports subjects and is home to a world class swim team and one of, if not the top swim team in the country. While there Mark swam for the team before transitioning into a coaching role where he would work with some of the worlds finest coaches and numerous Olympians. ​ Since starting at Chesterfield, Mark has transformed the club from a participation club to a performance club offering the leading performance pathway in North Derbyshire, with a proven track record of winning National medals every year since his arrival. ​ Mark has maintained close links with Loughborough University and the British Swimming National Centre based there, often visiting for CPD opportunities and sometimes taking our top swimmers with him to benefit from the outstanding environment there. Performance Pathway Swim Chesterfield Academy Swim Chesterfield was launched as an initiative between Chesterfield Swimming Club and Chesterfield Borough Council as a way to link the two programmes and provide a complete swimmer pathway in Chesterfield with plans to expand it's partners to swim schools all around Chesterfield and the surrounding area. ​ Find out a lot more about Swim Chesterfield by clicking here. ​ The Swim Chesterfield Academy focusses on swimmers completing their journey in their Learn to Swim Programme by offering an easy and seamless link in to swimming with Chesterfield Swimming Club. ​ Swimmers enrolled on lessons for Swim England's Stage 8, 9 and 10 have access to coached sessions with one of our coaches. The money we make is used to: Provide opportunities to young athletes that dream of one day swimming at the Olympic Games. Keep pools in Chesterfield open, such as Highfield Hall Primary School, so that children can learn to stay safe in and around water. Keep children and adults swimming regularly to protect their physical and mental wellbeing. ​ If you're interested in swimming then there is no better place to learn everything there is to know. Our staff are led by Head Coach Mark Tanner who has coached multiple National Champions and medalists at Chesterfield Swimming Club as well as having played an important role in the development many of GB's Olympians such as Abbie Wood, Molly Renshaw and Sarah Vasey. Hours Minimum 2.25 hours per week up to 17 hours per week with the potential to increase further. Chesterfield Swimming Club are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, and organised swimming teachers to join our School of Splash learn to swim programme. Our club is committed to ensuring that children are safe in and around water as well as providing a solid foundation for children to become competitive swimmers in the future. Your primary role will be to teach young swimmers the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework from Ducklings up to Stage 3. Our teachers benefit from: Low teaching ratios. A calm and quiet environment with only one lesson being delivered at any one time.
